An Indiana company is supplying ice skates for American and Canadian athletes at this year's Olympic Games in Sochi. Richmond-based Skates U.S. makes ice skates for U.S. figure skater Gracie Gold and Patrick Chan from Canada, who is a three-time world champion. Our partners at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis report the company has an exclusive distribution deal with an Italian manufacturer. Gold has been using skates from the Wayne County supplier for the last 6 years.

Skates U.S. also produces high-performance roller skates.

The company says business has increased since the start of the Olympics. Custom boots and blades cost between $1,000 and $2,000 per pair.
