Officials in Evansville will Friday cut the ribbon on the $27 million Deaconess Aquatic Center. The facility, which will open to the public on Monday, is located in Garvin Park across from Bosse Field and replaces the former Lloyd Pool.
Construction on the facility began in December 2019, but plans have been in the works since September 2018. The facility features a 50-meter competitive pool and separated diving well, as well as room for nearly 1,000 spectators.
Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer told our partners at WEHT-TV earlier this month the facility will serve both competitive swim teams and recreational swimmers.
