Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings Inc.has signed a Career Pipeline Interview Agreement with Ohio State University. The deal aims to address an industry pilot shortage by allowing for conditional job offers before students graduate.
The agreement allows qualified aviation students to interview and receive a conditional job offer before graduation. Pilots also receive a $7,500 signing bonus upon employment. Republic College Relations Consultant Lauren McNamara says partnerships with aviation universities "are crucial for our company in combating the serious pilot shortage."
Republic now has Career Pipeline Interview Agreements with 16 universities throughout the United States, including Purdue University and Vincennes University. Since beginning the pipeline program last fall, the company says it has made more than 100 conditional offers to flight students.
