Renato Vidal to Lead GE Aviation’s Lafayette Plant

He is responsible for providing leadership for engine assembly and overhaul operations as the plant continues to accelerate production of the CFM LEAP engine, the fastest-selling engine in commercial aviation history. Vidal is a 19-year GE veteran and most recently led operations at the GE Aviation engine overhaul facility in Petropolis, Brazil. He succeeds Eric Matteson, who was promoted to a headquarters role in GE Aviation’s supply chain organization.
Vidal joined GE in 1999 as a powerplant engineer at the GE Varig shop in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His subsequent assignments included both engineering and operational roles, including a Six Sigma Black Belt role focused on productivity and delivery. Since 2011, he has been overhaul operations leader at GE Celma, overseeing three shops with more than 500 employees.
Vidal holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering from Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro and master’s degree in business management from IBMEC-Rio de Janeiro. In his free time, he enjoys car racing/karting and spending time with his family.
