‘Regional Links’ Focuses on Southeast Indiana Logistics

Subscribe NowA new strategic plan is providing a snapshot of the priorities and needs of 15 counties in the southeast part of the state. The Conexus Indiana Southeast Regional Logistics Council report is the most recent and final plan of its kind released by the state’s advanced manufacturing and logistics initiative. It highlights more than 60 key infrastructure projects and work force issues facing the region.
It also provided details of short and long-term public policy and talent development priorities aimed at growth in the sector.
The plan is a collaboration of 32 regional stakeholders, including One Southern Indiana and multiple chambers of commerce.
Southeast Regional Logistics Council Chair Doug Prather, who is also president of Seymour-based Ranger Enterprises LLC, says "Regional Links: Global Connections provides a detailed map of the region’s infrastructure assets and outlines goals to ensure our position as the ‘Crossroads of America.’ With enviable access to all four modes of transportation, Southeast Indiana is a gateway to global markets and we are smart to maximize both short- and long-term success for the business community and residents in Southeast Indiana."
- Conexus says priority projects include:
- Adding lanes to I-64, I-65; US 421 and US 50;
- Connecting Madison to I-65;
- Re-engineering, reconfiguring and redesigning SR 46/SR 11 interchange and building and designing a rail grade separation;
- Building and designing a rail grade separation at US 50/Tipton Street in Seymour; and
- Creating a West Lawrenceburg truck corridor from SR 56/US 50 at Aurora to US 50/SR 1 East of Lawrenceburg.
The southeast region includes Bartholomew, Clark, Dearborn, Decatur, Floyd, Franklin, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Scott, Switzerland and Washington counties.
