Regional Leaders to Detail ‘Project Propel’

Officials from the South Bend/Elkhart region will Wednesday provide new details related to a regional infrastructure project. Leaders say Project Propel will improve transportation infrastructure in the area without spending money.
Mike Daigle, executive director of the South Bend International Airport, and Chris Murphy, chief executive officer of South Bend-based 1st Source Corp. (Nasdaq: SRCE), will join other key leaders for a press conference in downtown Elkhart to announce the new details.
Officials say Project Propel will create a significant reduction in travel costs for businesses in the region with an improvement in the ability to move people in and out of the region more efficiently. A similar initiative in the Greater Grand Rapids region in Michigan, officials say, created an estimated first-year savings of $100 million.
The press conference with the new details on Project Propel is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
