FDA Clearance, Funding Boost Recovery Force

Launch Fishers-based Recovery Force LLC has cleared a major hurdle and received a more than $240,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared the wearable technology company to market its physician-prescribed calf device, which is designed to improve circulation and reduce healing time without the typical side effects. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. and Elevate Ventures are backing business, which could set it up for a larger round of funding.

During an exclusive interview with Mary-Rachel Redman that will air this weekend on Inside INdiana Business Television, Chief Executive Officer Matt Wyatt says Recovery Force has humble beginnings. "My father has a total knee replacement and I noticed post his surgery, he had these polypropylene or plastic wraps on with hoses and pumps that were kind of loud and I thought ‘there’s just got to be a different way,’" he said. So, Wyatt used his own knowledge of more breathable materials and sought the advice of engineers to put the product together.

Recovery Force is targeting what it says is a $3 billion potential market with its garment-embedded therapeutic technology that has applications in health care, pain relief, athletics, military and pet markets. The company says it could bring its products to market by the end of the year.
