The Evansville Redevelopment Commission has approved a restructured downtown hotel proposal. The planned $61 million project will include 240 rooms and could begin as early as August. Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says the city's previous investment in the project, $20 million, will not change under the new plan.

The current plan is scaled back considerably from a previous $74 million proposal that was pulled after part of the local private investment money dried up.

Our partners at WEHT-TV/WTVW-TV report Old National Bank CEO Bob Jones says the company will put $10 million toward the hotel.
