RE/MAX Ability Plus is planning to redevelop a portion of the Nickel Plate District in Fishers. The $1.8 million project includes a new office building.

FISHERS, Ind. – The City of Fishers, together with RE/MAX Ability Plus, announced plans for a new redevelopment project on the recently reconstructed Maple St., just north of 116th Street in the Nickel Plate District. RE/MAX plans to build a new two-story, 6,800 square foot office building at 11634 Maple St. Construction is expected to start in late second quarter of 2015. RE/MAX Ability Plus plans to invest $1.8 million in the project and grow its Fishers office to over 80 agents in the next two years.

“More and more businesses want to be a part of the Fishers community,” said Mayor Scott Fadness. “The recent infrastructure updates to the Maple St. corridor not only improved access to the businesses already in the area, but also paved the way for future development. RE/MAX’s office concept is a perfect addition to Maple St. and furthers the connected vision for this part of the Nickel Plate District.”

In October 2014, the Fishers Redevelopment Commission issued a request for proposals to purchase and develop the quarter acre lot. The City received two proposals. Under the selected proposal, RE/MAX Ability Plus would pay $25,000 for the land and the City would waive development and impact fees related to the development. The City Council will consider the fee waiver request at its meeting on Monday, February 16, 2015, and the Fishers Redevelopment Commission is expected to consider the sale of the property at a meeting in late February.

“We are recommending RE/MAX Ability Plus because of their vision for the building and because they offered the most favorable financial terms,” said Tom Dickey, Fishers Community Development Director.

The redevelopment project includes the new, open-concept office building, an active streetscape that compliments the Maple St. pedestrian corridor and bicycle parking. The office building will have a caf? and open work spaces for a collaborative atmosphere, as well as meeting space for community use.

“While visiting our new office space, our clients will be able to experience the Nickel Plate District and everything the vibrant downtown has to offer,” said Jimmy Dulin, owner, RE/MAX Ability Plus in Fishers. “We are confident this is an ideal spot for the relocation of our current Fishers’ office.”
