The various products, brands and divisions of the RCA company, which for decades had a massive footprint in the state in cities such as Marion, Indianapolis and Bloomington, were sold off or licensed several years ago to other companies by Technicolor, formerly Thompson.
Spokesman Dave Arland says RCA Commercial Electronics, which includes lighting and commercial television divisions, currently employs around two dozen workers in Indianapolis.
The company is seeing a big opportunity in LED lighting for commercial and industrial clients. RCA Commercial Electronics Chief Executive Officer Jeff Sutton says "we’ve grown rapidly with customers throughout the country, helping universities, hospitals, commercial retail locations, and healthcare facilities update their lighting fixtures to save energy. Now it’s time to bring on board a seasoned expert in commercial lighting, and we’re delighted to welcome Jeff Sutton as national sales manager. The revolution driving LED lighting is just beginning, and we’re excited to have a key technology advantage and someone with Jeff Sutton’s experience to help strengthen our reach into new markets."
Sutton says the company has recently worked on projects at locations including Belhaven University in Mississippi, Yukon Hospital Network in Alaska and several individual retail stores.
The company says RCA Lighting have evolved from RCA Commercial Electronics’s TV business.
