The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded military contracts to Raytheon Co. in Indianapolis and South Bend-based AM General LLC. The contracts, totaling nearly $30 million, call for the production components for military helicopters and humvees.

Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services will receive more than $15 million for the production of 63 Smart Multi-Function Color Display B-kits for the CH-53E Heavy Lift helicopter. Work will be performed in Indianapolis and is expected to be complete in August 2020. The Naval Air Systems Command in Maryland is the contracting activity.

The DOD is awarding more than $14 million for the production of Humvee engines. Work will be performed in Indiana with an completion date set for August 27, 2020. The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime in Michigan is the contracting activity.

The AM General contract comes just days after the company was awarded a $2.2 billion contract to produce nearly 12,000 Humvees for the U.S. Army.
