Rainey Named Director of Purdue Soybean Center
The Purdue University College of Agriculture has named Katy Martin Rainey director of the Purdue University Soybean Center. Rainey has been a Purdue agriculture faculty member since 2012 and was previously on the faculty at Virginia Tech.
Rainey is an associate professor of agronomy and specializes in soybean genetics and plant breeding.
“Dr. Martin has done an extraordinary job identifying industry needs and opportunities for soybean related research and educational programs and building collaborative relationships among Purdue and other Midwest soybean centers,” Plaut said in a news release. “We look forward to the contributions that Dr. Rainey will make in her new role.
Rainey earned her undergraduate degree in botany from the University of Georgia and her Ph.D. in plant breeding from Cornell University.
