Former Indiana Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman, who previously served as Radius Indiana chief executive officer, will be board chair.
The organization says its 2017 budget includes "several new priorities and projects to benefit the Radius region." One of those projects is a southern Indiana economic development class, in which local elected officials and community leaders will receive information and updates on various economic development practices, such as site development, business retention and incentive programs.
In addition to Skillman serving as board chair, the board has selected Don Schulte of Schulte Consulting to service as vice chair, Tim Kinder of the Martin County Alliance as secretary, and Tom Krodel of Old National Bank as treasurer. The following new board members were elected to three-year terms:
- Billy Chastain, Paoli Town Council
- Misty Weisensteiner, Visit French Lick West Baden
- Bryan Brackemyre, Indiana Municipal Power Agency
- Gene McCracken, Lawrence County Commissioner
- Justin Green, Salem City Council
- Shanni Simmons, Vincennes University
"The board members bring additional perspectives to our leadership for regional economic development," said current CEO Jeff Quyle. "Our new members include local government officials, secondary educators and utility providers in the Radius region who have a vested interest in growing our economy and developing our workforce. I look forward to seeing what the group will accomplish in the region in 2017."
The 2017 budget also allows for initiatives such as multiple site selector trips, regional marketing efforts and "a continued commitment to skilled workforce development, community development and defense industry strategy." Radius Indiana provides economic development services for eight southern Indiana counties, including Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Orange, and Washington.
