Radius Indiana Creates New Position

Radius Indiana has hired a former deputy technical director from Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division to fill a newly-created position. Matt Craig will serve as director of Crane community support for the southwest central Indiana regional partnership.

In his new role, Craig will work to attract new defense business investment in the region and increase awareness of Naval Support Activity Crane locally and nationally. He will begin his new position on May 16.

"Crane is vitally important to our local economy, and it is also indispensable to our military and our country. The Director of Crane Community Support will help ensure that the public is well informed on the impact and opportunities the naval installation brings to our area," said Becky Skillman, chief executive officer of Radius Indiana. "We are extremely fortunate to have Matt join the Radius team. His experience and years of dedication to Crane’s mission make him an invaluable asset in our efforts to strengthen the region and create more jobs in the defense sector."

Craig will also be responsible for working with the partnership’s business development staff to increase research opportunities and investment in the region. Radius Indiana says Craig will collaborate with its defense and national security council, the Southern Indiana Business Alliance, and the Indiana Office of Defense Development.

"The value of military installations is continually assessed by the Department of Defense, and on a local level it is imperative that we understand how that value is determined and how it can be enhanced," said Craig. "I am excited to begin this important work with Radius to build partnerships and focus on the military-community relationships that are important to sustaining Crane’s economic vitality in our region."

Radius Indiana says Craig retired from NSWC Crane after 30 years, after having served in various positions. The announcement of Craig’s position comes just days after Radius Indiana announced the creation of its director of community development position.
