The Purdue Research Foundation at Purdue@WestGate and Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division have announced a cooperative research and development agreement. The partnership aims to connect private Indiana companies to the division’s expertise and technology.

Purdue@WestGate Director Jason Salstrom says the agreement will give small businesses in Indiana access to Crane’s labs, equipment and workforce as they look to solve commercial technology challenges. He says Crane will be able to help increase including advanced electronics, robotics, human systems integration and energy management.

NSWC Crane Technology Transfer Program Manager Brooke Pyne calls the partnership "foundational for building relationships with academia," adding it "fosters collaboration of strategically-aligned mission needs with a national research institute that rapidly addresses technology advancements that support the warfighter."

Last month, Radius Indiana, which represents eight counties in southwest central Indiana, named Purdue@WestGate the top economic development project in the region in 2017. The economic development accelerator offers tools, programs and educational opportunities to startups and other businesses.
