Purdue University’s Honors College has received its first $1 million gift. The university says the donation will support an academic and residential facility and help establish a scholarship program.
The gift comes from Thomas and Martha Murdock. Tom Murdock’s 40-year career includes 20 years in the electronics industry and 20 years in the Navy. He graduated from Purdue in 1971 with a degree in electrical engineering.
The college will use $750,000 to help fund the 322,000 square-foot Honors College and Residences facility. The building will house more than 800 students as well as the college’s administrative offices. $250,000 will go to fund annual scholarships for Honors College students to help pay for housing. The gift also supports the $2 billion "Ever True: The Campaign for Purdue University."
