Purdue, VU Announce Reverse Transfer Agreement

VINCENNES, Ind. – Thanks to a reverse transfer agreement, students who transfer from Vincennes University to Purdue University will now have the opportunity to earn a VU associate degree, even if they did not complete it prior to transfer.
“For many years the students who transfer from Vincennes to Purdue have been valued by our faculty. They are well prepared for the rigors of many of our academic programs. But in some cases, it is to their advantage to transfer before the associate degree is earned. Now we are so pleased that these students can easily earn the associate degree they deserve at no cost to them, and with just a simple request of a transcript,” said Pamela T. Horne, associate vice provost for Enrollment Management and dean of Admissions for Purdue University.
Under the agreement, Purdue will send an email to identified students that explains the reverse transfer opportunity and provide a dedicated email address (Purdue2VU@vinu.edu) to which a free electronic Purdue transcript can be sent to VU for evaluation for the associate degree.
VU will in turn publicize the availability of reverse transfer with Purdue to enrolled VU students, evaluate all Purdue transcripts received for degree audit, award associate degrees as appropriate, and notify students when the requirements of the associate degree have been met or identify courses that are needed to complete the degree.
“It is good to be part of this cooperative venture. Both Vincennes University and Purdue University benefit when we have a process like reverse transfer in place to serve students,” said Rebecca Little, registrar at VU.
VU President Dick Helton said the agreement is an example of how the state colleges are working closely together to ensure that students are provided a clear and efficient path to earning all of the academic credit their work warrants. “Purdue has been a good partner for VU for many decades. It is a relationship that continues to strengthen and mature for the benefit of many students,” Helton said.
