Purdue Polytechnic Anderson Facility to be Dedicated
The city of Anderson, Purdue Polytechnic Institute and Flagship Enterprise Center will Friday cut the ribbon on a $15 million Purdue Polytechnic Anderson facility. Anderson Mayor Tom Broderick says the facility, known as Flagship East, will “lead the way in redefining higher educational opportunities and providing innovation in advanced manufacturing, science and technology."
Construction on the facility began in September 2015. Though the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Friday, the building has been open to students since January. The facility is owned and managed by Flagship Enterprise Center.
"This building provides the opportunity for bright young minds to pursue innovation in a state of the art environment,” said Charles Staley, chief executive officer of Flagship Enterprise Center. “It also embodies a seamless partnership of academic, business, and government resources to strengthen our community and address the pressing need to have a workforce prepared for the 21st Century."
Corey Sharp, director of Purdue Polytechnic Anderson, says Flagship East "opens an expanded world of opportunity for our students, industry partners and the community" and will leave graduates well-prepared as job seekers or job creators.
The ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
