News Release

West Lafayette, Ind. — Purdue is launching an online Master of Science program from the university's Brian Lamb School of Communication.

“The field of communication is diverse and the skills taught in our Master of Science program will help working professionals across multiple industries, from not-for-profit and governmental agencies, to fundraising and investor relations,” said Marifran Mattson, professor and interim head of the Brian Lamb School of Communication. “As the digital landscape continues to influence how society communicates, professionals with a diverse skillset and knowledge in communication strategy and theory are vital to an organization's success.”

The master's program, which will be available this May, will focus on strategic communication, social media, crisis management, public relations strategy, social media, communication ethics and research methods. Information about the 20-month program, which requires 30 credit hours, is available online or by calling 877-497-5851.

Purdue also offers an online graduate certificate in strategic communication management through the Brian Lamb Communication School. This certificate is based on a nine-credit hour, three-course sequence that focuses on communication theory and strategic communication in the context of global organizations. Information about this program is available online.

“Complementing our new Master of Science in communication with our certificate program in strategic communication, truly illustrates our commitment to the idea of openness and innovation in communication. This is what the Brian Lamb School of Communication was founded on,” said Bart Collins, director of the new online program and clinical associate professor of communication. “The online curriculum was specifically designed to instill within professionals a heightened understanding of how to strategically address communication issues on international, national and local levels.”

The Brian Lamb School of Communication, which was established in 2011 and named for C-SPAN's founder, is housed in the College of Liberal Arts.
