Purdue Grows Partnership With Irish School

Purdue Grows Partnership With Irish School The school hosted a delegation led by DIT President Brian Norton this week.

Purdue University and the Dublin Institute of Technology are expanding their partnership. The new agreement between the schools lays the groundwork for student, staff and faculty exchanges as well as collaborative research and commercialization.

The memorandum of understanding also covers the exchange of publications, report and other academic information as well as collaborative professional development. In addition, the schools will begin "hot desking" faculty and staff. That will allow faculty and staff in each institution’s incubator to exchange desks for a set period of time.

Purdue President Mitch Daniels says the relationship is unique because of "the breadth of engagement campus-wide." The school hosted a delegation led by DIT President Brian Norton this week to formalize the strengthened partnership. During the trip, Norton also announced that the Marriott Foundation will fund five DIT hospitality students each year for four years in a semester-long exchange at Purdue’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.

DIT has more than 20,000 students and 2,000 faculty and staff. The school says it is a descendant of the first technical education institution in Ireland, which was established in 1887.
