Purdue University and Dallara will formalize their previously announced partnership to bring the university’s motorsports engineering program to Speedway with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday.
The Purdue program will be housed inside Dallara’s U.S. headquarters on Speedway’s Main Street, just one mile from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Purdue and Dallara first announced the partnership in May 2024. The Purdue program will occupy about 20,000 square feet of space that will include classrooms and hands-on training for students pursuing a career in motorsports.
“This partnership puts Purdue students and industry leader Dallara alongside one another in the epicenter of the motorsports world,” Dan Hasler, Purdue’s chief operating officer for Indianapolis, said in a news release. “The education, training and connection opportunities through this collaboration will benefit our students, Dallara and the motorsports industry as a whole here in central Indiana and beyond.”
The motorsports engineering program in Indianapolis is being led by Director Chris Finch, a former IndyCar race engineer with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
“There is no better place for this program to be than the epicenter of the motorsports universe,” Finch told our partners at the IBJ last year. “We are thrilled to partner with Dallara, whose reputation is unparalleled in the industry, and can’t wait to take advantage of the incredible opportunities that this new facility provides our students and program.”
Students will also receiving training from Dallara, which is the exclusive chassis supplier for the NTT IndyCar Series.
Purdue says the program will begin operations at Dallara ahead of the 2025-2026 academic year.
