A nonprofit makerspace will host a grand opening next week in Kokomo. SHAK Makerspace includes 3D printing, wood and metalworking and fabric crafting technology.
The space, which was initially established late last year, offers classes and events for members. It will also work with the community on collaborative projects. Dues cover tool maintenance and project space.
The organization says its mission is to "foster a collaborative and educational environment wherein people can explore and create intersections between technology, science, art, and culture for artistic, entrepreneurial and economic development purposes." Leaders also strive for collaboration that will benefit cultural, scientific and charitable causes.
The grand opening is set for February 29 from 4:30 – 7 p.m. at 2538 N Washington Street in Kokomo.
