A proposed Walmart Supercenter in Vanderburgh County has cleared a hurdle. Our partners at Eyewitness News in Evansville report the Evansville Vanderburgh County Board of Zoning Appeals has approved variances on parking and signage requirements. The board approved the variances by a vote of six to one.

The retail giant is planning a more than 185,000 square-foot store on 31 acres along State Road 57 near I-69. The supercenter would include a gas station and four out-lots.

The plans must still receive several more approvals before construction can begin.
