An Indianapolis-based advertising and public relations agency is marking its 35th anniversary by transitioning to an employee-owned company. July 24, 2013 (Indianapolis) — After more than three decades of helping clients reach milestones, advance brands and recognize employees, Hirons & Company is embracing a signature moment of its own on Thursday. The Indianapolis-based advertising and public relations firm will celebrate the culmination of its employee ownership plan and the launch of a new brand at a 35th anniversary celebration at its downtown headquarters.

The firm will host a rooftop party for agency clients, employees and friends. With 35 years of business growth and development, contributing to major projects throughout central Indiana and around the state, the company will unveil its new brand at the party, which was created in commemoration of the 35-year accomplishment.

“Hirons & Company has continuously innovated over the last 35 years and emerges today as an innovative leader in integrated communications,” said Kevin Brinegar, president of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. “We are thrilled to help celebrate the success of Hirons and wish them continued success.”

The agency has evolved significantly in its 35 years. Hirons formed in 1978 as HironsWilliams, operating out of a small office above a Greek restaurant in Bloomington. Over time, HironsWilliams became Hirons & Company, its workforce and client base became much larger, and its home became Indianapolis.

Also in celebration of its 35 years of success, Hirons announced that it is transitioning to 100 percent employee ownership. Through its employee stock ownership plan, 100 percent of the company’s stock has been placed in a trust to be awarded to employees as a benefit.

“The employee stock ownership plan is an important goal that we’ve been working toward for years,” said Jim Parham, chief operating officer of Hirons. “As owners, our employees are personally invested in the company, giving them greater motivation to serve their clients and providing an incentive to stay at the company, which leads to a more experienced workforce.”

Hirons continues to rise above the competition, taking home six awards from this year’s local American Advertising Federation’s ADDYs and 11 from this year’s Public Relations Society of America Hoosier Chapter’s Pinnacle Awards Ceremony. The company is also a leader in diversity and sustainability initiatives.
