Projects Recommended For Regional Cities Funding

The Northeast Indiana Regional Development Authority Board has voted to recommend Regional Cities Initiative funding for three projects in Kosciusko, Allen and LaGrange counties. The recommendation will now be considered for final approval by the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
The board voted to support the Buffalo Street Redevelopment Project in Warsaw, which is requesting $3.5 million in Regional Cities funding. The project, which has a total cost of $17.6 million, will feature infrastructure improvements along two blocks in downtown Warsaw, including the redevelopment of an old water treatment plant.
The Posterity Scholar House project in Allen County is requesting nearly $2.5 million in Regional Cities funding, which is 20 percent of the $12.4 million total cost. The board is also recommending $3.8 million in Regional Cities funding for the Michiana Event Center in LaGrange County, which is about 20 percent of the $19.2 million total cost.
"The three projects recommended for funding truly illustrate the diversity and regionalism of our Road to One Million plan," said Jeff Turner, RDA board member. "These projects are improving quality of life in three different counties in our region, and each project is critical as we grow Northeast Indiana’s economy, brand and talent pool."
The board also heard presentations Tuesday for other projects, including The Landing in Fort Wayne, which is requesting nearly $7 million in funding. The Clyde Theatre Renovation Project in Allen County is also seeking $1 million in funding. The RDA board has yet to vote on support for those projects.
