Tony Cox says graduates can "take more of a leadership role" in the industry and use the business expertise to branch out into different fields. The program is in its third year. During an interview with Inside INdiana Business Television, medical MBA grad Cameual Wright, who has spent 15 years practicing medicine, says the degree could help put her in position to make "higher-level decisions."
Wright says "I’ve seen health care change tremendously as we try to meet the challenges of providing high-quality care with an optimal patient experience, being cost-effective, as well," she said. Wright says business people are helping steer the industry and, as a physician, "I wanted to have a role in making those decisions and have a greater voice" with the credibility an MBA brings.
Cox says some graduates of the program have moved higher in their careers into more senior-level management positions such as chief medical officer. Others, he says, have gone on to roles in biotechnology, pharmaceutical and insurance. The fourth class began recently. For more on the IU Kelley Medical MBA, click here.
