Premier Healthcare to Join IU Health

Bloomington-based Premier Healthcare has announced plans to join the IU Health network. If approved by the IU Health board, the multi-specialty health care group will become part of Indiana University Health Southern Indiana Physicians in May.
The IU Health board will meet February 22 to decide on the matter. If approved, Premier providers and staff will become Southern Indiana Physicians employees. IU Health says the providers will continue to practice in their current locations and current patients will notice few immediate changes as a result of the deal.
"With healthcare in a state of change, we were looking for a partnership that would strengthen recruitment efforts and allow for further alignment with Indiana University Health and Indiana University School of Medicine," said Wesley Ratliff, president of Premier Healthcare. "By strengthening our relationship with the IU School of Medicine and IU Health we believe we will be able to better meet our vision of providing the highest quality of innovative health care to South Central Indiana."
Premier was founded in 1972 as Internal Medicine Associates. It will join Southern Indiana Physicians’ group of 265 providers that cover 19 specialties, including 11 primary care facilities.
