Indianapolis-based job matching platform Powderkeg has hired Rick Wehrle as chief technology officer. He most recently served as senior software architect at Vertex Intelligence.

“Today’s top tech talent and job opportunities aren’t bound by geography. With the massive shifts in the workforce that we’ve seen over the past year, the demand for better job matching has never been higher,” said Matt Hunckler, chief executive officer of Powderkeg. “Rick joins our team at a critical time not only for Powderkeg, but the industry as a whole. The software industry alone provides nearly 16 million jobs to the U.S. economy and is growing faster than the overall GDP. I’m confident Rick’s expertise and talent in the HR-tech space will help us make an even bigger impact with our product and connect many, many more people with jobs they love.”

Wehrle holds a bachelor’s degree from IUPUI.
