Leaders at the Ports of Indiana are set to announce an international shipping partnership this afternoon in Portage. Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann and Quebec’s minister of international relations are set to take part in today’s announcement.
The announcement is set for this afternoon at 2:15 Central at the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor in Portage. Burns Harbor is part of the overall momentum of the ports. The port says 2014 shipments topped 2013 totals by around 25 percent.
A U.S. Department of Commerce report released early this year showed 2014 merchandise exports from Indiana reached a record level of $35.5 billion. That report also suggested Indiana exports supported about 166,000 jobs in 2013.
