Subscribe NowThe roles are reversed this week on homegrown journalist and creator of Inside INdiana Business Gerry Dick, as we celebrate the second anniversary of the Ag+Bio+Science podcast presented by AgriNovus Indiana.
Gerry, who is usually the host of the podcast, is on the other side of the microphone in this week’s installment. The podcast was launched in 2018 to showcase the growing agbioscience sector in Indiana.
“It just continues to amaze me the vibrancy of this sector of the Indiana economy. And again, it’s the big companies. It’s Corteva, Elanco, Beck seeds, a family run seed company that has grown and is such an amazing success story,” said Gerry, who usually hosts the podcast. “But it’s also the individuals, the entrepreneurs, you know, I always say that farmers are the ultimate entrepreneurs. They’re out there taking risks each and every year, so many things out of their control.”
Gerry, who spent most of his television career in Indianapolis, created Inside INdiana Business in 1998 because he felt local business news was not getting enough attention.
During his 22 years at the helm of IIB, he has witnessed Indiana’s success in drawing businesses to the Hoosier State. In recent years, there has been growth in attracting and growing the Indiana agricultural sector beyond crop production. It now includes advanced technology and innovation which Gerry credits, in part, to AgriNovus Indiana.
“It just continues to amaze, maybe excite me and get me even more passionate about what’s going on when I see what’s happening as the state of Indiana and AgriNovus bring that stuff together.”
Gerry says in this week’s podcast preview he’s excited to see younger people getting involved and getting engaged in the industry.
“The more young people and vibrant creative people that are attracted to the agbioscience space, the sky’s the limit for that sector, especially as it relates to Indiana.
Each week, host Gerry Dick conducts conversations with leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Indiana’s agbioscience sector, discussing the confluence of food, agriculture, science and technology.
