Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP has named Jennifer Girod of counsel. Her practice focuses on compliance and regulatory matters, physician/hospital transactions, clinical services and patient care issues and legal and ethical issues involved in clinical research activities. Girod regularly advises clients on all aspects of health care compliance, including developing or improving the effectiveness of compliance programs and assisting clients with Medicare and Medicaid self-disclosures and government investigations. She worked as a nurse and an assistant professor of Bioethics prior to attending law school. Girod served as chief compliance officer for a health system including an acute care hospital, federally qualified health center and public health department. She earned her law degree, summa cum laude, from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2007. Girod is admitted to the bar in Indiana.

Also, the firm has appointed Andrea Townsend an associate. She represents clients in complex civil litigation cases involving environmental, insurance coverage, and commercial law. Townsend also handles real estate and environmental regulatory and transactional matters. Additionally, she focuses a portion of her practice on appeals, having participated from both the judicial and advocacy perspectives in Indiana’s state appellate courts and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining PSRB, Townsend practiced business and general civil litigation, as well as appellate advocacy. Before that, she served as a law clerk for the former-Chief Justice of Indiana, the Honorable Brent Dickson.
