Wisconsin-based Placon is celebrating the opening of its expanded medical facility in Elkhart. The Elkhart Truth reports the plastic packaging manufacturer has invested $11 million to construct the 42,000-square-foot addition and create up to 25 jobs.

The publication says the expansion will double Placon’s thermoforming capacity in Elkhart and increase the company’s clean room manufacturing, warehouse and office space. The addition will be used to produce , in which it will produce custom packaging for the healthcare and medical device markets.

“What we’re trying to do is double our capacity because our business is growing so quickly,” said Dan Mohs, chief executive officer of Placon. “By expanding, we’re able to bring in new technologies so we can stay cost-competitive and have the precision that’s needed in the medical packaging industry.”

Mohs says the company has plans for future expansion as well.
