Subscribe NowNine communities have received planning grants from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to develop plans to improve the quality of life among residents. Indiana awards the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Block Grants to rural communities to help local governments with community projects.
“Planning grants are invaluable tools that can help rural communities shape their vision for community and economic development,” said Matt Crouch, interim executive director of OCRA. “I applaud the foresight by the community’s leaders and residents taking the time to plan for these significant investments within their communities.”
Applications in this round address water infrastructure and comprehensive community planning. The grants will allow the communities to address issues with drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
Grants were awarded to these communities:
- Brookston – $58,500
- Brownstown – $50,000
- Center Point – $35,000
- Chalmers – $60,000
- Earl Park – $69,300
- Hartford City – $90,000
- Hebron – $35,000
- Hudson – $40,000
- Otterbein – $40,000
