Services are set for the chief executive officer of Pizza Hut of Fort Wayne Inc., who died Monday after a battle with ALS. David Bobilya, whose career with the company also included time as controller, treasurer, vice president and president, started with Pizza Hut of Fort Wayne 37 years ago. He was 65.

Pizza Hut of Fort Wayne now includes all locations in Allen County and stores in 26 other Indiana and Ohio communities. In the mid-1990s, Bobilya invested in Pizza Hut and KFC franchises in Poland. Five years later through a merger, the business had grown to include over 100 restaurants in Poland and the Czech Republic and was eventually a publicly-traded company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

The Sagamore of the Wabash recipient and IPFW graduate had served as board chair of the Foellinger Foundation, Turnstone Center for Disabled Children & Adults, and Fort Wayne Convention & Visitors Bureau and was board member for organizations including the Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and Parkview Hospital.

A calling will take place Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home and the funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at The Chapel. You can read more about Bobilya’s life and career by clicking here.
