Indianapolis-based Elevate Ventures and the Current Blend coworking space in Huntingburg will Monday evening host the second annual Dubois County Pitch Competition. Elevate Ventures says the event will "build on the growing entrepreneurial community in southwest Indiana."

The pitch competition will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brew, located at 408 Main Street in Jasper. Elevate Ventures says individuals and teams will present their business, innovation or entrepreneurial idea to a panel of judges in order to earn a share of prize money that will serve as an investment in their startup.

Last year, a total of $8,000 was awarded to four companies. The first place winner was Parasite ID, which developed a new lice detection test.

"Last year’s pitch competition had a great turnout and brought out great ideas and conversations," said Eric Steele, entrepreneur-in-residents at Elevate Ventures. "The success of the event highlighted local and regional entrepreneurs in hopes to continue to build up the entrepreneurial ecosystem and help turn these ideas into businesses."
