The Pitch will allow businesses to give five-minute presentations to a panel of local judges in an effort to win $10,000 in prize money.
The event will take place October 18 in Rochester. FEDCO Executive Director Terry Lee calls the competition a community effort to support entrepreneurs. The organization says prospective and current businesses with less than $1 million in gross annual sales and fewer than 50 employees are eligible for the competition.
All of the entries will be reviewed and the finalists will be chosen based on feasibility, presentation, positive community impact, and potential job creation. The judges will award the prize money among the finalists at their discretion.
"FEDCO’s BizGro program has had proven success in growing businesses," said Amy Beechy, entrepreneurship program manager for FEDCO. "We’ve assisted hundreds of local business owners and created jobs. The PITCH by FEDCO is the next significant way we’re supporting and growing local businesses."
The winning businesses will be required to execute their business or expansion plan no later than six months after receiving the award. Existing business entries must also have full-time operations with a primary office in Fulton County for at least two years.
