Gilberto Perez Jr., who most recently served as senior director of intercultural development and educational partnerships at the college, succeeds Launa Leftwich, who stepped down after accepting a position with the Boys and Girls Club in Goshen.
In his new role, Perez will lead various areas related to student life, including residence life, campus ministries, counseling and health and campus safety. He will also oversee the Student Senate and student leadership program, as well as assist offices with compliance of federal laws and guidelines, such as Title IX.
"I am excited to work with Gilberto in this new capacity as he brings energy, ideas and a commitment to student development in all he does," said Interim President Ken Newbold. "Gilberto will advance our work to more fully integrate intercultural development into the student life experience. With a background in social work and higher education, Gilberto has cultivated strong relationships on and off campus that will help create new opportunities for GC students."
Before taking on his previous role through the college’s Center for Intercultural and International Education, Perez served as a professor of social work at the college. He will continue as a member of the college’s president’s council.
