The State Budget Committee will meet today at the Statehouse for the first time this year. Governor Mike Pence's two-year state budget proposal is among the items on the agenda. A major part of the governor's plan will revolve around education spending, including $10 million for pre-kindergarten scholarships. He is also expected to push to “adjust funding” for public charter and private school voucher initiatives.

During a presentation last month at the Bingham Greenebaum Doll 2014 Legislative Conference, Pence laid out his education agenda for the General Assembly.

The committee today will also examine two major renovation projects on the Indiana University campus. The school is seeking a total of $32 million from the state.
