New Running Mate For Pence?

Governor Mike Pence says he will make an announcement this afternoon regarding his administration. IndyPolitics.org Publisher Abdul-Hakim Shabazz says former Indiana Republic Party Chairman Eric Holcomb, who yesterday withdrew from the race for U.S. Senate, will be Pence’s running mate in the race for governor in 2016.

Current Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann has surfaced as the potential next president of Ivy Tech Community College. She has said she is honored by the consideration, given "my deep engagement in work force development." She has said she spoke with Governor Mike Pence and the two of them agree on the importance of the work force challenge and her qualifications to face it. Current president Tom Snyder announced his retirement earlier this year. He will step down in 2016 to join President Barack Obama’s College Promise Advisory Board.

Holcomb issued the following statement Monday regarding his candidacy for the U.S. Senate:

"Today I withdrew my name as a candidate for the United States Senate as Janet and I believe we have been called to serve our beloved state in a different capacity. It has been a tremendous honor to serve Hoosiers as a member of the staffs of Governor Mitch Daniels, Senator Dan Coats and as Chairman of the Indiana Republican Party.

"Janet and I are grateful for the tremendous support we received from all over the State of Indiana during our campaign. With more people working today than ever before in our state’s history and record investments in transportation and education, I couldn’t be more excited for all that Hoosiers have accomplished and I look forward to announcing soon how I will serve our state in the years to come."
