Moderated by Elaine Quijano from CBS News, the debate will take place at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.
The debate will give the Indiana governor his largest audience since being selected in July by Donald Trump as the Republican vice presidential candidate. The event also comes one day after a federal appeals court rejected Pence’s effort to bar state agencies from assisting Syrian refugees in resettling in Indiana.
One day before Trump officially announced Pence as his running mate, Andy Downs, director of the Mike Downs Center For Indiana Politics in Fort Wayne, called the selection a "compliment to Indiana" and "something the state should be celebrating." Pence is the first vice presidential candidate from Indiana since Dan Quayle in 1988.
The vice presidential debate begins at 9:00 p.m. ET.
