Governor Mike Pence has appointed Luke Britt Indiana Public Access Counselor. Britt replaces Joe Hoage who is moving to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to serve as chief legal counsel. August 22, 2013

News Release

Indianapolis—Governor Mike Pence appointed Luke Britt to serve as the Indiana Public Access Counselor and made appointments to the Indiana Board of Tax Review and Parole Board.

As the Indiana Public Access Counselor, Luke Britt will provide advice and assistance concerning Indiana’s public access laws to members of the public, government officials and state employees. He will replace Joe Hoage, who will serve as Chief Legal Counsel for the Department of Natural Resources.

Britt is an experienced attorney who most recently served as a litigation attorney for the Indiana Department of Child Services, advising the agency on various program and legal areas. He previously worked at the Indiana State Department of Health and R. Lee Money law firm in Greenwood.

Britt earned his undergraduate degree from Franklin College and his law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Britt will begin his new role as Public Access Counselor on Monday, August 26. His term runs through June 30, 2015.

Governor Pence also appointed Charles Miller to serve on the Parole Board. Miller is an experienced attorney and Assistant Supervisor with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office where he oversees investigations involving narcotics, firearms, gangs and forfeitures. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Indiana and Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. Miller’s term runs through June 30, 2015.

Ted Holaday has been appointed to the Board of Tax Review. Holaday has served as Senior Administrative Law Judge at the Board of Tax Review since 2002 and was a Deputy Attorney General from 1977-2004. He earned his undergraduate degree from DePauw University and Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. Holaday’s term runs through January 1, 2016.

As a practicing attorney, Jon Elrod has also been appointed to serve on the Board of Tax Review. He is currently a partner at Elrod & Mascher, LLC. Elrod earned his undergraduate degree at Xavier University and his J.D. at Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington. His term begins October 1, 2013 and runs through January 1, 2015.

Governor Pence reappointed Betsy Brand to the Board of Tax Review. She has served as Commissioner since 2002. Her term runs through January 1, 2015.Source: Office of the Indiana Governor
