Partnership Aims to Boost Manufacturing Education

The Indiana Manufacturers Association has partnered with Michigan-based Lightweight Innovations For Tomorrow in an effort to increase awareness, innovation and education in manufacturing and advanced manufacturing. LIFT says the goal is to develop an educated and skilled work force in the industry.

Along with the IMA, LIFT is partnering with manufacturing associations in Ohio and Kentucky to boost understanding of the manufacturing industry’s needs in those states. The partnership will allow LIFT and each association to support each other in advancing STEM education and work force initiatives.

"The marriage between our organization and LIFT makes sense as we work to increase awareness of advanced manufacturing as a career choice and to build education pathways from middle and high school through college to employment opportunities in the state’s manufacturing economy," said Brian Burton, president of the Indiana Manufacturers Association.

Emily Stover DeRocco, director of work force and education development at LIFT, said the partnership will help fill the talent pipeline and keep Indiana’s manufacturing sector strong and growing.
