Parkview to Celebrate Renovation Milestones

Fort Wayne-based Parkview Health is marking the halfway point of the $55 million renovation of its Randallia campus. Parkview officials, including Chief Executive Officer Mike Packnett, will today celebrate the blessing of the new cross that will overlook the campus.
The cross will be installed on the West Tower on the campus. Parkview will also hold a special dedication in honor of Walter Helmke, the former president of Parkview Hospital who, according to The Journal Gazette, also served as Allen County prosecutor and an Indiana state senator in the 1960s and 1970s.
Helmke’s son Paul will be on hand for the dedication, which is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Parkview announced the renovation project in 2014, saying it would create nearly 150 jobs. In December, the health system celebrated the opening of the hospital’s new family birthing center and intensive care unit, which were part of the renovation project.
