Parkview Health details plans for two facilities in Marion

Fort Wayne-based Parkview Health is expanding its Indiana footprint with plans for two new facilities in Marion.
The health system said this week that a multi-specialty clinic is set to open this summer, and a freestanding emergency department and urgent care facility will come in 2027.
Parkview said in a news release that the projects are part of a commitment to protecting and expanding rural access to care.
“We are truly excited to give area residents the great news about Parkview’s plans to invest robustly in their health and in the Marion community,” said Deb Potempa, market president for Parkview Health South. “We hear from Grant County residents that they want to access Parkview services closer to home, so it’s thrilling for us to be launching two new facilities offering patients more high-quality care options.”
The multi-specialty clinic will initially occupy a portion of a nearly 15,000-square-foot former Walgreens building at 2620 S. Western Avenue and the first phase, opening this summer, will house Parkview Physicians Group providers in OB/GYN, general surgery and orthopedics.
A second phase that will house providers for adult and pediatric primary care is slated for completion by the end of the year.
The more than 25,000-square-foot ER/urgent care facility, which will be named Parkview Marion, is part of the redevelopment of a vacant property along I-69 and State Road 18 on the city’s east side.
Construction on the first phase of the facility, which will be a brand new build, is expected to begin at the end of this year and be complete by mid-2027, the health system said. The property has room for additional expansion in the future.
Parkview is investing nearly $5 million to renovate the facility for the multi-specialty clinic. An estimated cost of construction for the ER/urgent care facility has not been determined. It is also not clear how many jobs would be created as a result of both projects.
Marion Mayor Ronald Morrell expressed his excitement for the projects during his State of the City address this week.
“For over three decades, the I-69 and State Road 18 corridor has stood as a symbol of untapped potential in Marion,” Morrell said. “Today, with Parkview Health’s significant investment, we’re not just building a medical facility – we’re laying the foundation for a healthier, more prosperous future. This development is a testament to our city’s resilience and a beacon of growth that will benefit generations to come.”
