The company that makes Chinet brand products has announced plans to downsize its Grant County work force. In a notice to the state, Huhtamaki Inc. says it will permanently lay off nearly 40 workers at a plant in Marion. The company attributes the move to a loss of “significant” business connected to the operation.

Employees are expected to be let go around the end of April.

Huhtamaki says the jobs involved are machine operators, shipping/receiving personnel and salaried administrators.
