OUCC Seeking Comment on Rate Increase

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor is seeking consumer comments on a proposed rate increase from Illinois-based Community Natural Gas Co., which serves 10 southwest Indiana counties. Consumers have until July 7 to submit comments.
The utility’s proposal would raise its monthly customer service charge by $1.00 for residential customers and $6.00 for commercial customers. It would raise the utility’s annual operating revenues by more than 19 percent.
Community says the rate increase is necessary due to rising operating and maintenance costs, along with new infrastructure investments. The OUCC says the rate would only apply to the utility’s base distribution rate, which covers "non-gas" costs.
The OUCC is scheduled to complete its review of the rate increase request and file testimony with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission on July 14. You can find more information on submitting a comment in the case by clicking here.
