OrthoWorx Set For Manufacturing Tour

Subscribe NowWarsaw-based OrthoWorx has announced an event slated for later this month that aims to raise awareness of orthopedic manufacturing careers among students and parents. The state’s orthopedic industry initiative will host a tour to educate local school faculty and staff about orthopedic career pathways in the region.
Faculty and staff from the Warsaw, Wawasee, Tippecanoe Valley and Whitko Community School Corporations will tour the Ivy Tech Orthopedic and Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, the Warsaw Area Career Center and Precision Medical Technologies in Warsaw on August 28. OrthoWorx says the goal is to provide resources to the school employees ahead of the upcoming Think Ortho Tour, which will take place in October.
The Think Ortho Tour is a program similar to August tour and will target selected eighth grade students and their parents.
"While the purpose of the Think Ortho Tour is to introduce students and their parents/guardians to the exciting career opportunities available in the orthopedic manufacturing industry, an additional goal is to address a common misconception that work in an industrial setting is dirty, disorganized and unsafe," said Ronna Kawsky, director of the WACC. "In actuality, today’s orthopedic manufacturing facilities are clean, safe and high tech. We need to inform our educators about these opportunities, too, in order to initiate this change in opinion."
The Think Ortho Tour is part of OrthoWorx’s Talent Development Initiative, which aims to address the skills gap in advanced manufacturing fields.
