Olympic Trials to Spotlight Natatorium ‘Masterpiece’

The president of Indianapolis-based USA Swimming says the 2016 Olympic Diving Trials beginning this weekend will allow the IU Natatorium to show off $20 million in "absolutely out of this world" renovations. Linda Paul says the trials, which run through June 26, will include 19 hours of coverage on NBC Sports.
More than 100 divers are set to take part in the trials, competing for coveted spots on the U.S. Olympic team competing this summer in the Rio games. They include 2012 Olympic gold medalist and Noblesville native David Boudia, who will compete in 10-meter platform individual and synchro events.
The $20 million renovation was completed in five phases over 21 months. Upgrades included an enhanced interior design, a new roof and improved lighting. The 220,000 square-foot facility was built in 1992 and has hosted hundreds of events, including five previous Olympic trials.
