The chief executive officer of the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association says he hopes the proposed $40 million culinary and entertainment center in Fishers will build upon the city’s current success. Patrick Tamm says The Yard, a 17-acre development which will include a culinary and restaurant accelerator, could create options that add to the vitality of the Hamilton County city.
Tamm tells Inside INdiana Business there isn’t necessarily one specific model from which the concept of The Yard was taken, but it could have a similar impact that Launch Fishers has had on the entrepreneurial community. He expects plenty of entrepreneurs will want to take advantage of this new space.
"In the culinary industry, specifically restaurants, we lead the country in terms of women ownership (and) minority ownership," said Tamm. "The restaurant and the culinary industry is truly America’s industry of opportunity. We always have entrepreneurs that are crazy risk takers and are willing to gamble."
The Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association is assisting with the concept development of the project. The development, which will be located next to the new IKEA store, will also have space for up to 12 standalone concepts.
The Fishers City Council will consider Monday an economic development agreement with project developers Thompson Thrift Retail Group.
Tamm says the project could open the door for innovation.
