Officials Break Ground on Plymouth Shell Building

PLYMOUTH, Ind. – At a groundbreaking ceremony held today, local government and
economic development officials formally announced the construction of a 45,000 square foot shell building to be located within the PIDCO Commerce Industrial Park. A majority of businesses today that are searching for a site to expand or locate a new facility start by looking for an available building. Therefore, having such a building within Marshall County will elevate our strategic positioning for future economic growth and job creation.
The building, which will be the first of its kind in Marshall County, will be expandable up to 135,000 square foot. The interior can easily be finished to an end user's specifications within a short period of time reducing permitting and construction costs.
The development of this project was realized through a public-private partnership between the City of Plymouth, the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC), the Plymouth Industrial Development Corporation (PIDCO), and the Garmong Development Company.
“This project has been talked about for over two years now, and it’s good to see that we are finally moving some dirt! This will give the City of Plymouth and MCEDC an opportunity to bring more manufacturing jobs into our community that would benefit all of Marshall County,” said Mayor Mark Senter, City of Plymouth. “This project has truly been a cooperative effort between the City, PIDCO, MCEDC and Garmong Construction, and I look forward to the results,” continued Mayor Senter.
“Today's announcement would not have been possible without the leadership of all those involved in the partnership. MCEDC is proud to be a part of this initiative since communities that have flexible buildings meeting the needs of a variety of businesses have a competitive advantage in attracting new investment,” said Jim Condon, Vice Chairman of the MCEDC.
Additional speakers at today's event included Dan Tyree, President of the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission; Mark Gidley, past PIDCO President; and Dan Zuerner, Vice President for Garmong Construction.
Construction is expected to begin immediately with all site and shell facility improvements planned for completion in the fall of 2014.
